CRIMINAL LAW Mr. McKay
was appointed by District Attorney Charles A. Riddle, III,
as an Assistant District Attorney for the 12th Judicial District of Louisiana
in January 2003,
and is thus prohibited from handling (or consulting in) any criminal charges
from the defense
side in any court. Prior to this appointment, he practiced criminal law for
more than 20 years
and handled every type of criminal case from minor juvenile offenses to death
penalty trials.
He served as a public defender for over 15 years, with five of those as chief
defender, thus
giving him countless hours of courtroom experience along with study and writing
time.
Mr. McKay's practice includes regular attendance at Continuing Legal Education
seminars.
Mr. McKay was certified by the
Louisiana Indigent Defense Assistance Board as trial lead
and appellate lead counsel in death penalty cases.
